Weekly Recap
With the past seven days behind us, we take a look at action from around the league.

MoDo

After getting off to a less than stellar start to the season that saw them lose two of their first three games, the SHL's newest team had themselves a near perfect week this week. MoDo had a very busy schedule over the past seven days that saw them play three games in five days, and they took advantage of that schedule.

They kicked off their week with a huge win over struggling HV71 on Tuesday evening. The game was all MoDo right from the get go after they took a 2-0 lead in the first frame and never looked back. They would equal that goal total for the next two frames as well, scoring a pair in each period. A lone goal for HV71 in the second frame was not enough to change the momentum in the game and MoDo would come away with the 6-1 victory. The game would mark HV71's third loss in just four games to start the season

Their Thursday evening contest was a lot closer than their big win on Tuesday as they welcomed Rögle to Hägglunds arena. August Berg would be the hero in that one, matching his goal total from last season on Thursday evening. Last season, while he was with MoDo in Hockey Allsvenskan, he scored just a pair of goals in 34 games played. He would be the only player to score for MoDo as a pair of goals, one in the first and one in the second, was enough to hold on for the win. A late third period goal by Brady Ferguson would bring Rögle back within one, but they could not complete the comeback and would come away with the 2-1 loss.

MoDo's third and final game of the week saw them visiting Malmö to take on the Redhawks. Their newest acquisition Danny O'Regan, playing in his first SHL game, made an immediate difference. The 29 year old American rippled the mesh in the late stages of the first period to give MoDo a 2-0 lead heading into the first intermission. Despite the lead, Malmö would fight back and score three unanswered goals, one in the second and two in the third. Undaunted, however, MoDo was able to tie the game late in the third period and force the overtime frame. Erik Walli-Walterholm would prove to be the overtime hero for MoDo, potting the game winning goal in three on three action and completing the comeback and securing the near perfect week for MoDo. With a total of 8 out of a possible 9 points on the week, MoDo has shot up the standings and now sit third overall behind Örebro and Färjestad.

Wikman

It was a slow week when it comes to off ice news as only one real story from the SHL this week took place. That would be the signing of William Wikman to an extension with Örebro. The 26 year old forward played his first SHL season last year with Örebro and it now appears he will be sticking around for a while longer. After a strong start to the season that has seen him score a pair of goals, Örebro has extended his contract until the end of the 2025/26 season.

- He has had a strong development with us and it has been fun to see Wille's determination and development in our environment. We have a lot of faith in Wille, he is a real team player but we also see that Wille can take further steps in the offensive game. It will be exciting to continue working with Wille and follow his continued development in the Örebro jersey, says Örebro Hockey's sporting director Niklas Eriksson
