Brynäs is finalising their roster for the coming season and they have found their second goal keeper this week. They had previously signed Eric Källgren and have now signed 24 year old Ludvig Persson. The young goaltending prospect has spent the past four seasons in the NCAA with Miami University in Ohio and, most recently, with The University of North Dakota where he was a nominee for the prestigious Hobey Baker Award.
- He has had an exciting journey where he has always in his own way found a way to reach the next level. Just as we describe in our identity, he is a person who takes responsibility for his own development, uses the conditions that exist and makes others better, says Brynäs sports manager Johan Alcén.
Persson is a product of the Frölunda junior program and will be making his SHL debut this fall. The contract is valid for the coming season.
MoDo has strengthened their back end this week with two new signings. Both Ludwig Byström and Paul LaDue have signed on with the team.
LaDue, 31, will be making his first trip across the pond to play in Europe. He has spent his entire career in North America, mainly in the AHL, but he also has 70 games played in the NHL with Los Angeles.
- It is a right-hander who is good defensively and has played big minutes over there, with box play and power play as his big strengths, says MoDo's sporting director Henrik Gradin.
Byström, 30, has 140 SHL games under his belt but has not played in the league since the 2014/15 season. He spent five seasons in the AHL with the Texas Stars and Springfield Thunderbirds, four seasons with Kärpät in Liiga and last season with the Nürnberg Ice Tigers in the DEL.
- Ludwig is a good skater and has a good game sense. He's a good two-way back that we think we'll get a lot of use from. Then of course it doesn't hurt that he grew up here in Örnsköldsvik and already has MoDo in his heart, says Henrik Gradin.
Both contracts are valid for the coming season.
Frölunda will be welcoming back a familiar face this season as Linus Weissbach returns to Gothenburg. The 26 year old forward is a product of the Frölunda junior program but played just a single game with the main team before heading to North America. He spent one season in the USHL, four seasons in the NCAA and three seasons in the AHL.
- We have lost two offensively skilled players in Malte and Jere. We wanted to bring in offensive skill and "Weiss" is just that. He is a skilled forward with good speed and plays like a pattern breaker. He fits what we wanted, says Frölunda's sporting director Fredrik Sjöström to the club's website.
