Rautio

A familiar name to Swedish fans will get another shot between the pipes in the SHL for the upcoming season. Skellefteå have signed David Rautio to a five week tryout contract.

– It feels good and very exciting. I have faced Skellefteå many times and it has always been super tough, so it will be exciting and challenging to be here and play, says Rautio.

The 38 year old goaltender is returning to Sweden after a single game appearance with the SCL Tigers in the Swiss League this past season. Other than a single season in Norway, Rautio has spent his entire career in Sweden, playing 338 games over 18 seasons in the SHL. He has played with Luleå, Brynäs, Linköping and Timrå

– I make demands on myself to deliver and to help the team. I want to contribute with high speed and a lot of energy and have spoken to Roger (Rönnberg) about how he sees me as a player and how he wants to use me, says Strömwall.

He is coming off a 51 point season in 68 games in the AHL with the Chicago Wolves. Previous to that he scored 32 points in 38 games for Dinamo Minsk in the KHL.
